5 ways to stay healthy this Christmas
The festive season is classically a time to indulge, relax on your exercise regime, and put sleep on the back burner – but it’s more important than ever to keep up with your routine!
Here are some easy, practical solutions to keep your feeling great over the Christmas period.
- Support your liver – to assist your body in dealing with the extra alcohol and food this month. Try to include as many foods as possible to support liver detoxification. This will have you feeling much fresher the day after a celebration. Include foods such as; rocket, lemon juice, radicchio, green tea, broccoli, brussel sprouts, cauliflower, cabbage, turmeric, berries and garlic.
- Prioritise rest – sure it’s easy to get caught up in the social whirlwind of Christmas, but it’s even more important at this time to get your 8 hours of sleep.
- Limit alcoholic drinks. A drink here and there is completely fine, but try not to go overboard. Instead, opt for a delicious mocktail, kombucha or simply stick to water!
- Keep moving – this isn’t a time to skimp on your workouts! By continuing your exercise regime, you’ll feel more energised, happier and your digestion will be far better.
- Focus on colour! By this, I mean, focus on eating a large variety of colorful fruit and vegetables. Fruit and vegetables supply you with the nutrients necessary to have you feeling your best, and energised, as well as fibre to assist your digestion. Aim to fill half your plate with salads, vegetables, and fruit, ¼ with protein and ¼ with a complex carbohydrate.
Most importantly, have fun, and enjoy time with your family and friends!
